The Magic of Chemistry
The Meredith College Student Affiliate Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS-SAC) presented a show during the State Science and Engineering Fair North Carolina 2009 called “The Magic of Chemistry.” |
|
The show consisted of a series of chemical presentations designed to demonstrate chemical principles and properties, such as flammability, entropy, catalysis, and states of matter. The objective of the chemical demonstration was to provide an entertaining and informative presentation for the families and participants attending the NC State Science fair. Our goal was to present a variety of chemical experiments that illustrated important chemical principles in an entertaining manner. The members of the Meredith ACS-SAC selected suitable demonstrations for the show at the beginning of the Spring semester in 2009. |
|
Once the selected demonstrations were approved, the students practiced the experiments twice a month throughout the Spring semester of 2009 in order to perfect their technique and maximize the impact of the show. |

We therefore had a an assembled crowd that included young siblings and elementary, middle school, and high school aged science fair presenters. A crowd of between 75 and 100 people gathered for the show. |
