Emily McKenzie
The process of my design begins with a page in a sketchbook, then a document on the computer screen. I tend to use very clean lines with a love of white space. Both white space and precise alignment allow easy movement of the eye. Movement requires variety, and I love finding inspiration from my environment. Geometry and symmetry are very important to me. What I enjoy most during the process is adding my voice to the story provided and making it all come together as one. Through my art, I stress the importance of graphic design in the visual culture that we live in today. Good, successful design is essential in standing out from the crowd. My work is elegant and sleek which allows it to be easily recognized. I have a responsibility to myself as a designer to produce work that I am proud of, and I have a responsibility to my client to produce work that is successful in conveying their message to the appropriate audience. |

Graphic design is an intricate weaving of art and message. Being able to take a client’s thoughts and visually represent them both intrigues me and absorbs me. I love engaging with people to find out who they are, who their company is, and what they do. The purpose of my design is to accurately portray a message using my knowledge of color, line, image and type.
