References

Begin thinking about your references early on as it is common for an employer to ask for them during the interview process. Your references have the ability to further confirm your selection for the position you’re seeking or can provide information that could hinder your candidacy. Therefore, choose your references wisely. Do not assume that individuals are willing to serve as a reference for you. Select 3-5 individuals that have seen you work, have supervised you, have taught you, and can speak to those interactions and the abilities you demonstrated. These may include current or past supervisors, faculty members, faculty advisors, and advisors of clubs/organization where you’ve served as a member or officer.

A sample reference can be found on our handouts page.
