Location
Paris has long been known to the world as the "City of Love" and the "City of Lights" as well as the fashion capital. Participants will get the chance to see what millions of others have come to Paris to see-- the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysées, the Louvre, and Notre Dame. Paris teems with over 2 million people and boasts bridges to make the art lover swoon and markets to make the shopper giddy. Whatever your pleasure, Paris has it all!

Curriculum
In order to receive credit for 2 three-hour courses, an average of 6 hours a day is devoted to educational activities. Some preliminary course work will be completed prior tot he trip.
FMD 944--French Fashion (3 hours)
This course examines the relationship between the fashion industry and the cultural environment in France and Italy.
FMD 946--International Retailing (3 hours)
A comparison of retail strategies and consumer buying behavior in France and Italy to those found in the United States.
*Other courses will be offered by the Paris American Academy. Students may choose to take another class instead of either course mentioned above. Classes begin on June 16 and end on July 13th. Bastille Day activities on July 14th will conclude the program activities.
Costs
$7,000 plus meals and spending money. Base price includes:
Tuition for 6 credit hours
3-day trip to Italy
Housing in France and Italy
Day trips to Versailles, Giverny and Belgium
Overnight trip to Nice
Paris city tour
Many museum tours
Evening ballet or opera
Bastille Day dinner boat
Bus transfer to and from airport
Transportation to and from Italy
Subway/bus pass in Paris
Other trip-related costs include a passport ($85), an International Student identification card ($22), Traveler's Insurance ($35) 6 1x1 photos ($15), current converter ($25).
Estimation of Other Expenses: Flight $1500 (students and faculty will fly together to and from Paris); Meals $800 (students can opt to eat in their apartments or dine out); Books and Supplies $125; Misc. $400 (extra spending money will be needed for doing laundry, extra-curricular activities, shopping, or unrelated weekend travel.) Please note estimates are based on an average of past participants' exepenses and will vary depending on individual spending habits.
Any other travel, such as weekend excursions, are not part of the paid program. However, such trips are encouraged and can be arranged by the student.
Eligibility
Students must be in good academic standing with Meredith College. Students must complete at least one 3-hour French course as a pre-requisite for this program.
