Study Abroad Programs

Standing at the Front doorMeredith College offers a myriad of study abroad opportunities for students who wish to spend a summer, a semester or a year abroad. You have, literally, a world of choices.

You may choose to improve your language skills at one of Meredith's long standing sister universities in France or Spain. You may prefer to study in the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, or Australia.

Or you may want to tailor a semester yourself in Argentina, India, Costa Rica, or elsewhere. Meredith students can choose to study abroad for a semester, for the summer or for a time that best suits their educational needs.

Group togetherSemester
Interested in immersing yourself in another culture? Then consider spending a semester studying abroad. While taking courses at a local university, you'll be able to learn in the global classroom of your surroundings.

It is important to plan semester study abroad programs carefully. Each study abroad participant works closely with the Office of Study Abroad, her advisor and various department heads to ensure that the classes she intends to take will transfer back to Meredith.

As an added benefit, Meredith allows its students to travel with their financial assistance, unlike many colleges and universities. Scholarships are available too. For more information, visit www.meredith.edu/admissions/financial-aid.htm.

Meredith has established partnerships in such locations as Angers, France, Hong Kong, Madrid and Paris. Visit the Office of Study Abroad to discuss possibilities in other countries.

Holding spearsSummer
Each year, Meredith College sponsors a variety of summer study abroad programs. The "Meredith Abroad" program in Italy/Switzerland and the United Kingdom is the oldest of Meredith's study abroad offerings.

Other options include a fashion-focused program in Paris, a tropical ecology and conservation experience in Costa Rica and a language program in Spain. Often special travel programs are also introduced.

No matter which location you choose, studying abroad through a Meredith program provides you with the opportunity to live and travel abroad while completing course work.

Sometimes the classes offered are special to the program, others are courses that are also taught on Meredith's campus. In either case, taking classes in an international setting provides the opportunity to learn in places where the subject emanates, such as studying religious art in Italy, Shakespearean theatre or British politics in London, or Danish architecture in Copenhagen.

Other International Opportunities
Study programs are not the only options available to students and recent graduates who would like international experience. You can also choose to work, volunteer or intern abroad.

Read about the experiences of recent Meredith graduates who spent a year working in New Zealand and of another alumna who volunteers in Zambia.
