Semester in Italy Travel Journals
Fall 2009 marks the beginning of Meredith College’s first faculty-led, Meredith-sponsored semester long study abroad program in Sansepolcro, Italy. The College is leasing The Palazzo Alberti, a 16th-century palazzo as the site for Meredith-sponsored study abroad programs. In this picturesque location, students will complete a language intensive program that provides a year’s worth of Italian study in one semester.
Another required course, Italy Today, focuses on contemporary Italian society, including politics, education and religion. It also includes a service learning component.
Students will also have the option of completing electives in art history, the natural history of Italy and a course focusing on the Jewish-Italian experience during World War II.
While they are abroad, Meredith students will be sending frequent reflections in a journal format. These entries will be posted on the web site regularly so that the Meredith community can follow along on their adventure in Sansepolcro. (Note: The Italy Journals site is updated between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Fridays.)
Be sure to check back often to see where they are and what they are doing.
