Cheryl S. Jenkins, Director

Cheryl Jenkins has worked at Meredith College since 1991. Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Master of Education in counselor education/ student development in higher education with a co-major in training and development at NC State University.
As director, Jenkins’ duties include the following:
- advising Student Government Association, Campus Activities Board, and Publications Board;
- assisting with annual reports, planning and evaluation;
- approving contracts for bands, entertainers, etc.;
- organizes Leadership Triangle College Edition
- assists in the organization of Celebrating Student Achievement Day
- approving purchase orders; and
- acting as a resource and referral agent for all student organizations in the following: programming, fund raisers, event planning, publications, T-shirts/sweatshirts, etc.
Betsy Dunn-Williams, Assistant Director

Betsy Dunn earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and religious studies at the University of Virginia. She then earned a Master of Education in student personnel in higher education from the University of Florida. Dunn joined the staff at Meredith full time in January 2007.
Her duties as assistant director include the following:
- advising the Meredith Recreation Association and Senate;
- organizing Officer and Advisor Training, Gold Star Recognition Program, Presidents’ Retreat and the Organization Appreciaton Event;
- organizing Leadership Programs including: The LEAD Conference, WILD Conference, Emerging Leaders Seminar Series, Leadership Conference for High School Women and The LeaderShape® Institute;
- overseeing the LeaderShape® Vision fund;
- serving as a Co-curricular Advisor; and
- advising groups on fund raising efforts (suggestions and approvals) and approving T-shirt/sweatshirts.
Tabitha Underwood , Assistant Director

Tabitha Underwood joined Meredith in November 2008 as the volunteer services coordinator and in May 2009 the Office of Volunteer Services and Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development were combined. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Indiana University and a Master of Science and Doctorate in community psychology from NC State University.
Her duties as assistant director include the following:
- Advising MEA and Elections Board
- coordinating service opportunities both on and off campus
- assisting student with finding volunteer experiences
- developing and coordinating the Sloan Family Leadership Trip;
- overseeing the Sophie Lanneau Women’s Leadership Development Program, MeredithREADS, and Leadership Circle
Kathy Owen, Office Manager

Kathy Owen, earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a K-3 certificate from Meredith College. Owen became a member of the Meredith staff in 1999.
Owen’s duties include:
- supervising student worker staff;
- overseeing budgetary support services for office and student organizations;
- overseeing and managing the daily operations of the office;
- providing support for the Sophie Lanneau Women's Leadership Development Program/Co-curricular Resume Program; and
- maintaining the roster of Student Organization Officers and Reservations for Second Cate Conference Rooms and First Cate tables.
Student Assistants
In addition to full-time staff, the Office of Student Leadership and Service employs student workers who assist the office by:
- providing secretarial support to staff, including office services and assistance;
- acting as information resource for students, faculty, staff and visitors to the Cate Center; and
- staffing the Information Desk.
